8.B. Resolution for Brazoria County’s Participation in the
Program for Countywide Election Day Polling Precincts.
Brazoria County has petitioned the Texas Secretary of State
to participate in the Program for Countywide Election Day Polling Precincts
resulting in Countywide Joint Elections and the use of Vote Centers. Several countywide public hearings were held
in January 2015 educating the public and soliciting input from citizens and
various political subdivisions.
Instituting this program will allow county residents to vote in any polling center within Brazoria County regardless of where their “home” precinct is. This will eliminate disqualified ballots resulting from residents voting outside their assigned precinct. Attached is a Resolution for the Board’s consideration to support or not support Brazoria County’s participation in the Program for Countywide Election Day Polling Precincts.
