3.A. DISTRICT TEACHER INDUCTION PROGRAM
Description:
Over the past several years, the ROCORI School District has implemented a three-year teacher induction program to support teachers new to the profession and new to the district. The three-year cycle has different elements within each of the three years of support.
The leadership team for the Induction program has been invited to the meeting to share information about the induction process. Jake Zauhar has served as the Induction Committee facilitator as well as the first-year induction leader. Stef Rothstein and Matthew Zurbriggen, this year, have supported Induction as Instructional Coaches and facilitators for the second and third years of the program. The ROCORI Induction program has been recognized in the region as a very effective and professional model. The practices within the program are consistent with the goals and plans of national organizations such as the New Teacher Center. The Ignite Center at SCSU refers to the ROCORI program as it looks at quality induction efforts in Central Minnesota and has invited the district to assist others as well as be a part of programming within the teacher preparation efforts. Jake, Stef and Matthew are expected to be present to share information with the School Board about the Induction program and the support that is offered to new teachers. Desired Outcome: School Board member understanding of the Induction program, processes, and impact. Recommendation: The agenda item is informational in nature so no formal action is expected. The district has an Induction Committee that reviews and refines the induction processes. Feedback from the School Board, as a whole, to the Committee would be appropriate. |

3.B. STRATEGIC ROADMAP
Description:
The ROCORI School District adopted a revised version of the Strategic Roadmap in December, 2015. The Roadmap is intended to serve as a guide to the district in implementing and enhancing programming across the system. It is appropriate, with relatively new board members, to take some time to review the Roadmap, to examine how the School Board envisions using it, and to consider how it connects to district operations and reporting processes.
Desired Outcome: Consider the board vision and direction for the use of the Strategic Roadmap. Recommendation: No formal action is required as the Roadmap has been approved, but consensus on the use and direction desired with the Roadmap should be developed.
