5.3. Review and Act on CERC Flooring Proposal
Description:
This is a decision that has been discussed at length at multiple facilities committee meetings. The products originally specified in this space were examined and determined to be less than what was desired by the committee and District. The committee is recommending a switch to Keifer USA/Mondo for the "Mondo" line of products. With their National Joint Powers Contracting, it would result in pricing of $319,760 for all 4 spaces + an additional $8,000 to have one court become a smooth Mondo Advance product (the final decision was to go from South to North with Sportflex M, Sportflex M, and then Advance (these products will be available for review at the work session). This means that the total cost for all Mondo would be $327,760. We had budgeted in the original adjusted bid for these 4 spaces to cost $190,866. This means that we would pay an additional $136,894.
In addition, we will need to return the bid bonds and pay a minimal fee to cover mileage expenses for the original contractor. This amount is $8,479. It is advantageous to do this due to the fact that this original contractor would not be able to secure the NJPA pricing for this same product, thus costing the District more to continue with this contractor. The bottom line is that the new specified product will cost us an additional $145,373 and it will be installed by Kiefer/Mondo. We think this is a worthwhile investment and upgrade.
