VIII.A. 2026-2027 Final Budget **
Description:
I’ve included the final 2026-2027 budget in the state budget form. I’ve also attached the summary page that I shared with you last month during the tentative budget presentation. The numbers have changed slightly for the better since last month. We received less of the property taxes than we usually receive in June, which will push those receipts into the 2026-2027 Fiscal Year. Additionally, I’ve updated the line items with information we have related to staffing, salaries, lane changes and benefits. The budget has been on display for the statutory 30 days, and we held the budget hearing prior to this meeting.
Recommend approval of the 2026-2027 budget as presented. |
|
VIII.B. 2026-2027 Treasurer’s Bond **
Description:
The treasurer is required by law to be bonded for 10% of the amount of monies they have custody of. The bond must be approved by the Board of Education and then filed with the Regional Office of Education. Included in your board packet is the calculation determining the amount the bond should be based on the monies in custody. We have obtained a renewal on the bond. The bond is for $4,000,000 and the cost is $3,800, which is a $0 increase over last year. I have attached the bond information for your review.
Recommend approval of the 2026/2027 Treasurer’s Bond. |
|
VIII.C. Traffic Study Proposal **
Description:
As Dr. Schmidt went over in his Superintendent’s report, the Long-Term Facility Planning Steering Committee met on July 7, 2026 to learn more about the process that has been completed so far. The multiple focus groups had a common theme related to the safety of our students and staff in relation to Devlin Road. The Steering Committee recommended that the District move forward with a traffic study to determine the impact to the community and school if Devlin Road were ever vacated. Eriksson Engineering has provided the attached proposal to do a Traffic Study this fall once school is back in session. They will visit the school and various intersections in both the morning and afternoon to observe and obtain traffic counts. Then they will re-assign those counts to different traffic routes, taking into consideration the impact on Stanton Middle School and Gavin School bus routes which go along Devlin. Eriksson will produce a report for the Steering Committee so that recommendations can be made to the Board. The proposal is an hourly proposal, not to exceed $22,500.
Recommend approval of the Eriksson Engineering Traffic Study Proposal not to exceed $22,500. |
