8.2. Designation of Identified Official with Authority for the MDE (Action)
Description:
Recommended Motion: To approve the following resolution - The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) requires that school districts, charter schools or other organizations annually designate an Identified Official with Authority to comply with State Access Control Security Standard 1.0 which states that all user access rights to Minnesota state systems must be reviewed and recertified at least annually. The Identified Official with Authority will assign job duties and authorize external user’s access to MDE secure systems for their local education agency (LEA) or organization. The Superintendent/Director recommends the Board or equivalent governing board authorize Mark Westerburg to act as the Identified Official with Authority for the Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial School District and for Karissa Hall to act as an IOwA to add or remove names for ISD 2071. 8.3. CERTIFY PROPOSED TAX (Action)
Description:
Levy Limitation and Certification - School district property tax levies are limited by state law. The Minnesota Department of Education computes the levy limitation for each school district. The school district then certifies the levy, which is sent to the county auditor and the MDE by September 30. The
county then sends out the tax statements, collects the tax, and makes payments to the school districts. Recommended Motion: To approve the proposed 2023 Payable 2024 Property Tax Levy to the maximum amount and certify to the County Auditor and to the Minnesota Department of Education by September 29, 2023. Michelle Missing, along with a few others in our region created a submission for the Career Z Challenge from the United States Dept. of Education. Thei group has been chosen to move forward to Phase 2 of the challenge. If their group completes all aspects in Phase 2, there is a $10,000 award for the work that is completed. (Appendix)
