Motion: The Board of Education approves the agenda of the August 18, 2023, special meeting, as presented.
 

II. Consent Agenda
Motion: The Board of Education approves the consent agenda to include the following items:

II.A. Amended New Hire

II.A.1. Hiring of Jennifer Shipley as a conditional hire under the Welcome Back Proud Michigan Educators Program - 1.0 FTE 2nd Grade Teacher at Robert L Green at MA Step 6 effective August 21, 2023. The previous board submission was incorrectly approved at BA Step 6.
 

II.B. New Hires

II.B.1. Hiring of Katerin Duran-Batista as a conditional hire pending obtainment of a qualifying permit and/or additional certification to instruct English Learners - 1.0 FTE English Language Learner Teacher at East Lansing High School and MacDonald Middle School at MA Step 10.5 effective August 21, 2023.
 

II.B.2. Hiring of Kristin Day - 1.0 FTE English Teacher at East Lansing High School at MA Step 13 effective August 21, 2023.

II.B.3. Hiring of Rosaline Kuiper-Price - 1.0 FTE EI/Behavior Support Teacher at MacDonald Middle School at MA Step 17 effective August 21, 2023.
 

III. Public Comment:  This is the opportunity to address the Board.  Speakers are to confine their remarks to five minutes.  If a speaker requires more than five minutes, after all other persons who have requested to speak during this part of the meeting have spoken, that speaker will be allowed additional time.  The Superintendent or other district staff may comment to clear up or avoid significant misunderstandings.
