III.A. January Kiwanis Students of the Month - Gloria Zink and Estaban Sanchez-Sink were nominated by their teachers for being respectful, responsible, kind and compassionate.

III.B. American Math Competition (hosted by MSU) - More than 100,000 middle school students representing 1,845 schools participated in this competition. John Ahlin, MMS 8th grader, placed fourth in Michigan. Peter Ahlin, MMS 6th grader, was the 7th place sixth grader in the State. John Bonnell, John Ahlin and Peter Ahlin placed on the honor roll for the top 5% of participants. Other MMS students who participated were: Uyi Idusuyi, Bailey Nicholson, Kai Spicer, Andrea Carmel Eiland and Nala Noel.

III.C. Michigan Music Conference in Grand Rapids, January 25-27 - Four of our music faculty are presenting or are involved with this year’s conference. Sessions are: I’m Playing Chorales – Now What? - Dave Larzelere; Beyond an Instrument Petting Zoo – Implementing an Artist in Residence Program in Your Classroom - Katie Pike; Evaluate Me? But You Know Nothing About What I Do! - Patti Kroth and Amy Martin; MMC Planning Committee Member Eric Cadena.
