E.1. Recommend Approval of Contract with Fire Security Electronics & Communications, Inc. (FSEC) for FWJH Fire Alarm System
|
E.1.a. District administration recommends approval of a contract with FSEC to replace the campus-wide fire alarm system at FWJH. Estimated cost is $673,513.96 and will be funded through an award from the School Facilities Oversight Board (SFOB). The District would utilize 1GPA contract pricing under contract 21-07P-10. It is anticipated that work would begin in July 2023 and would continue into the school year with work being completed in evening hours.

E.2. Recommend Approval of Community Schools Fees for FY2023-2024
|
E.2.a. District administration recommends approval of fees for Community Schools programs, including before-and after-school Y.E.S. programs at preschool and elementary levels. Fees include hourly rates, materials fees, non-attendance fees, late fees, and employee tuition fees. The specific fee amounts are itemized in the attached memo and are unchanged from prior years, with the exception that preschool fees have been added given the availability of before- and after-school programming at the new EMELC location on Prince Rd.

E.3. Recommend Approval of Commercial Fuel IFB #24-08-28 to Senergy Petroleum
|
E.3.a. District administration recommends approval to award Bid (IFB) # 24-08-28 for commercial fuel to Senergy Petroleum for FY2023-2024. Although this was the only proposal received, the proposal is fair and reasonable, and Senergy Petroleum is a responsible vendor. This bid award includes the option to renew for four additional one-year contracts.

F.1. Recommend Approval of Policy Revisions
|
F.1.a. District administration recommends approval of policy revisions outlined below. These policies were reviewed as discussion items during the June 13 Board Meeting. The attached memo summarizes the revisions, and the accompanying policy drafts include strike-through text to indicate deletions and underlined text to indicate additions.
- Policy IKFB - Graduation Exercises: New language clarifies that students who earn their certificate of completion (students with disabilities) also may participate in commencement exercises. - Policy IGA - Curriculum Development: New language clarifies that meetings of Board-authorized textbook selection committees shall comply with open meeting law. This is consistent with our existing practice. - Policy IGD - Curriculum Development: Same as above. - Policy IJJ - Textbook/Supplementary Materials Selection and Adoption: Same as above. - Policy JLCD - Medicines/Administering Medicines to Students: Clarifies procedures for the emergency administration of auto-injectable epinephrine (if the Board elects to stock it); adds language regarding seizure management plans for students diagnosed with a seizure disorder and required trainings for employees relative to these plans. - Regulation JLCD-R - Medicines/Administering Medicines to Students: This regulation is provided for reference and would be updated in accordance with the changes specified in Policy JLCD.

|
F.2.a. District administration recommends approval to adopt the textbook and curriculum resource entitled Core: Introduction to Basic Construction Skills for use in the Basic Construction Skills course. This resource has been tabled for public review for a sixty-day period, and no public comments or concerns were submitted during this time.

F.4.a. District administration recommends approval to adopt the textbook and curriculum resource entitled American Government: Stories of a Nation, published by Bedford, Freeman and Worth, for use in the AP U.S. Government course at Flowing Wells High School. G. New Business

G.1. Review of Regulation Revision
|
G.1.a. District administration presents for review and discussion a revision to Regulation IKF-RA. Currently Regulation IKF-RA specifies that community college and university courses taken for high school credit shall be worth 0.5 credits per semester course. However, ARS 15-701.01 allows schools to award up to 1.0 credit per one-semester community college or university course. For a full high school credit to be awarded, the content and rigor of the semester college course would be reviewed by the superintendent or a designee to ensure approximate comparability with the corresponding year-long high school course. The attached regulation includes strike-throughs to show text that has been removed and underlines to indicate new text.

G.2. Recommend Approval of Gifted Scope and Sequence for 2023-2024 School Year
|
G.2.a. District Administration recommends approval of the 2023-2024 Gifted Program Scope and Sequence. This annual submission and approval is required by the Arizona Department of Education. The Scope and Sequence is consistent with prior years, with updates to include newly adopted AP textbooks.
