E.2. Recommend Approval of Bid Award to Chasse Building Team for FWHS Air Handler Replacement
|
E.2.a. District administration recommends approval to award bid number 23-05-23 for replacement of select air handler units at Flowing Wells High School to Chasse Building Team. Estimated cost is $2,832,584.00 and will be funded through an award from the School Facilities Oversight Board (SFOB). The project is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2024; approval in June of 2023 would provide necessary lead time to order and receive the equipment, which is anticipated at 42 weeks.

F.1.a. District administration recommends approval of minor revisions to the calendars for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 school year. The only change is to identify the final Tuesday of each school year as an early release day for Flowing Wells Junior High School due to the final exam schedule. Previously this day was listed as early release only for grades 9 through 12; the revised version will indicate grades 7-12.

F.2. Recommend Approval to Adopt Math Curriculum for Grades 6, 7, and 8: McGraw Hill Illustrative Math.

F.2.a. District administration recommends approval to adopt McGraw Hill Illustrative Math for use in grades 6, 7, and 8 beginning in the 2023-2024 school year. This resource has been tabled for public review for a sixty-day period, and no public comments or concerns were submitted during this time.

F.3. Recommend Approval to Adopt Textbook for Court Interpreting IA Course: Manual of Spanish-English Translation
|
F.3.a. District administration recommends approval to adopt the Manual of Spanish-English Translation by Kelly Washbourne for use in the Court Interpreting IA course beginning in the 2023-2024 school year. This is the required textbook for the Pima Community College Translation Studies (TRS) 101 course, which is the associated PCC dual enrollment course for Court Interpreting IA students. This resource has been tabled for public review for a sixty-day period, and no public comments or concerns were submitted during this time.

G.1. Review of Proposed Policy Revisions
|
G.1.a. District administration presents for review proposed policy revisions, with no action to be taken at this meeting. The attached memo summarizes the revisions, and the accompanying policy drafts include strike-through text to indicate deletions and underlined text to indicate additions.
- Policy IKFB - Graduation Exercises: New language clarifies that students who earn their certificate of completion (students with disabilities) also may participate in commencement exercises. - Policy IGA - Curriculum Development: New language clarifies that meetings of Board-authorized textbook selection committees shall comply with open meeting law. This is consistent with our existing practice. - Policy IGD - Curriculum Development: Same as above. - Policy IJJ - Textbook/Supplementary Materials Selection and Adoption: Same as above. - Policy JLCD - Medicines/Administering Medicines to Students: Clarifies procedures for the emergency administration of auto-injectable epinephrine (if the Board elects to stock it); adds language regarding seizure management plans for students diagnosed with a seizure disorder and required trainings for employees relative to these plans. - Regulation JLCD-R - Medicines/Administering Medicines to Students: This regulation is provided for reference and would be updated in accordance with the changes specified in Policy JLCD.

G.2. Discussion of District Mascots and Logos
|
G.2.a. District administration presents for review the updated versions of the school mascots and logos, which have been redesigned to achieve consistency and a coherent Flowing Wells brand while maintaining each site's individuality. The attachments illustrate the original mascots and logos and the new versions. The new mascots and logos are presented in district colors (blue and gold) and in their respective school colors, with both versions available for use as desired.
