G.5.a. District administration recommends approval of an MOU with Literacy Connects to establish the Reading Seed Children's Literacy Program at Homer Davis. At each session, students will receive a free book to take home in order to encourage reading in the home and to establish a personal home library. The District would provide anonymized student reading achievement data to Literacy Connects for the purpose of program evaluation and refinement. Literacy Connects also would maintain anecdotal notes regarding students' progress and would ask parents to provide feedback. All data would remain confidential.

G.7. Recommend Approval to Waive Open Enrollment Eligibility Criteria for FY2023-2024 for Current and Incoming Students from Elementary and K-8 School Districts at Flowing Wells High School, Sentinel Peak High School, and Flowing Wells Digital Campus
|
G.7.a. District administration recommends approval to waive open enrollment eligibility criteria for students from Altar Valley School District and other elementary and/or K-8 school districts at Flowing Wells High School, Sentinel Peak High School, and Flowing Wells Digital Campus for FY2023-2024. Arizona Revised Statute 15-824 takes effect in July 2023 and requires that students from elementary districts and K-8 districts be funded as open enrollment students rather than as tuition-out students. Consequently, Flowing Wells is adjusting enrollment procedures for these students. The District will continue its practice of accepting all Altar Valley students (rather than applying open enrollment eligibility criteria), although open enrollment applications now will be required for these students.
