F.1. Recommend Renewal of Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with Altar Valley School District regarding Shared Transportation Responsibilities
|
F.1.a. District Administration recommends renewal of the IGA with the Altar Valley School District (AVSD) to maintain shared transportation responsibilities and costs. In this agreement, FW provides multiple routes in the morning, after-school, and evening for students who live in Altar Valley. FW incurs salaries and benefits for bus drivers, monitors, and aides as needed, and AVSD reimburses FW for vehicle fuel and maintenance costs or provides vehicles for temporary use. The only changes to the IGA are in Exhibit A, with the cost per mile maintained at $1.00 but the total projected cost increasing by approximately $5000 from the prior year to reflect a more accurate estimate (projected at $59,540 this year as opposed to $54,700 last year).

F.2. Recommend Approval to Purchase Shade Structures from Dave Bang Associates
|
F.2.a. District Administration recommends approval to purchase two shade structures from Dave Bang Associates to be installed at Laguna and Richardson Elementary Schools. The purchase would utilize pricing through Mohave contract # 20Q-BANG2-0402 and includes Davis Bacon wages. The projects would be funded with ESSER funds. The estimated total cost is $101,438.

F.3. Recommend Approval of Fee Schedules for 2023-2024 School Year
|
F.3.a. District Administration recommends approval of the fee schedules for the 2023-2024 school year. The attached memo provides a summary of the changes, and the attached schedules indicate deletions with strikethrough text and additions with underlined text. Note that Technology Fees (for students who have checked out a District Chromebook for use outside of school) have been included for grades 7-12 as follows: an optional insurance plan may be purchased for approximately $35, which covers all Chromebook repairs and/or replacements for the year. Alternatively, individual repair fees would be assessed only as needed at a minimum cost of $35 per repair.

G.1.a. District Administration recommends approval of Erin Kearney to serve as the next principal at Flowing Wells Junior High School, to become effective July 1, 2023.

G.2. Recommend Approval of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Northern Arizona University
|
G.2.a. District Administration recommends approval of an MOU with Northern Arizona University to provide eligible Flowing Wells employees with a tuition reduction of ten percent. There is no cost to the District; Flowing Wells simply would agree to inform employees about the program and provide employment verification to NAU.

G.3. Recommend Approval of 2024-2025 School Year Calendar
|
G.3.a. District Administration recommends approval of the 2024-2025 school year calendar, which was brought to the Board for discussion during the January 10, 2023, Governing Board Meeting. Since then, the calendar has been shared with representatives from various employee groups and posted to the District website for feedback. No revisions have been suggested.

G.5.a. District Administration recommends approval to establish a new position entitled Database Technician. Currently, one employee in the Database Office holds the position of Computer Technician. The responsibilities associated with this position have evolved significantly over the past ten years, distinguishing it from the other Computer Technician positions around the District. This new position description specifies more clearly the actual duties of the role in terms of establishing and maintaining student and employee accounts for various platforms and integrating accounts through single sign-on procedures.

G.7. Review of Timeline and Considerations for Maintenance and Override Election
|
G.7.a. District Administration presents for review and discussion information about the District's current override, possible renewal timelines, and scenarios for percentages above the current 10% threshold. Additional revenues gained from a higher percentage could provide opportunities for innovative programs to attract and retain families to the District. Next steps will include gathering information from community members formally and informally, with a follow-up presentation to be provided to the Board in May. No action to be taken at the current meeting.
