RECOGNITION/COMMMENDATION
A. Tammy Scholz, HP Jr. High School Principal, wants to thank the amazing HP Jr. High PTSA for coordinating our first dance of the year. We had over 330 students attend. The students enjoyed snacks, dancing to the music provided by DJ, HP alumi, Ron Oleski, and making colorful wax hand molds. The students are already asking when the next dance will be.
B. Tammy Scholz, HP Jr. High School Principal, thanks Carla Kinyon for the time she spends every Wednesday before school and after school runnig our Patriot Trading Post. She has a group of student workers that set up, clean up and who run the post each week. Mrs. Kinyon sends out a weekly email to all the students to let them know about the "weekly specials". she searches for special items to purchase or trade their PBIS tickets for. The students love having the trading post and we are most appreciative of her continual efforts.
C. Judy Dowbenko, Principal at Jardon, wishes to thank the "Kohl's Cares" Program. They sponsored the October Fun Night and two of the local area stores sent 10 volunteers to help with activities. In addition to their time, the program also donated $1000 to our school! The money will be earmarked toward our microbusiness development in our Greenhouse program.
D. Tammy Scholz, HP Jr. High School Principal, would like to thank teachers, Franci Atcho, Barb Logan, Janet Langtry, Denise Robinson, Mike Leo, Chuck Jaracz and Michele Zabawa for organizing an amazing Math Night on November 3, 2016. We had approximately 60 students and family members join us for an informational session presented by Ms Robinson about our math curriculum and online supports. Families then had time to play a variety of math games made by Mrs. Logan and facilitated by our wonderful staff. Every junior high student that came left with a new math game to play with their family at home.
E. Yvonne Emlet, Teacher at United Oaks, wants to recognize and thank Mr. Kevin McCoy (Class of 2005) for his participation in the Wilfred Webb Art Gallery display. Mr. McCoy has a Pen & Ink drawing on display.
F. Danielle Letter, TRIG EduPaths Project Manager, would like to express
appreciation for the time and talent Steve Morton, Hazel Park High
School teacher, provided creating content for EduPaths this past
summer. Educators across the state of Michigan who participated in
EduPaths Summer content creation selected their area of interest,
completed an online introductory module and then attended two onsite
days designed to support them in course creation. The course, No Swear November: Improving School Culture by Reducing Profanity & Promoting Positive Communication, created by Steven Morton will be published on EduPaths in the upcoming months.
