8.2. Designation of Hot Lunch Hearing Officer
Description:
By State and Federal guidelines, we must have a hearing officer selected by the school board to make a ruling if there is a person who is dissatisfied with the ruling made by the building principal regarding their free and reduced application. In the past, the Superintendent has been the designated person.
|
8.3. Hot Lunch - Offer vs. Serve
Description:
The district needs an annual school board resolution to continue with offer vs. serve. Under Federal guidelines, all students must either be offered food from the five food groups (1. meat; 2, bread; 3. milk; 4. vegetables; 5. fruits) or the cooks must serve full portions of each of the five good groups. If we select offer vs. serve, a student may decline one or two options. It makes sense, for instance, if a student is allergic to milk not to give that student milk. The East Grand Forks Public Schools have been under the offer vs. serve provision for a number of years.
