Description:
A complete list of payments contained in Accounts Payable Special Vouchers numbers 2276, 2277, 2278, 2279, 2280, 2281, 2282, 2283, 2284, 2285, 2286, 2287 and Regular Run Voucher Number 2288 and 2289 are attached. Vouchers have been prepared in accordance to state law and copies of the Vouchers are available for review by the public at the Superintendent's office prior to the meeting.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve Special Run Voucher Numbers 2276, 2277, 2278, 2279, 2280, 2281, 2282, 2283, 2284, 2285, 2286, 2287 and Regular Run Voucher Number 2288 and 2289.

8. Superintendent Report SG-G (Administrative Report)
Description:
Superintendent, Keith Lewis, will report to the Board regarding activities of the past month and upcoming District events that may be of interest to them.
Below is a summary of donations received by school sites over the last month. The District wishes to acknowledge and thank the generosity of all donors on behalf of the students we serve. Douglas High School Southwest Gas Corporation-Donated an ice machine to the athletic department and mechanical hose reels to the CTE program Anonymous Donor-$1000 to the Music Department Minden Rotary- $950 for the purchase of new stools for the PAC program Scarselli Elementary School Carson Valley Arts Council-$400 for school Art projects |
9. Douglas County Safe Routes to School Masterplan SG-G (Information Only)
Description:
Douglas County Transportation Engineering Manager, Jon Erb, and Western Nevada Safe Routes to School Coordinator, Scott Bohemier, will provide the Board with a presentation on a proposed Safe Routes to School Plan for Douglas County.

10. DCSD Support of Helping Foster and Homeless Youth Achieve Act SG-G, C (Discussion and For Possible Action)
Description:
U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen has requested Douglas County School District support her bipartisan Helping Foster and Homeless Youth Act, which is a bill that would waive application fees for foster youth and homeless youth applying for college.
RECOMMENDATION: None. |
11. Consideration of 2022-2023 Tentative Budget and Scheduling of Public Hearing on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 SG-G (Discussion and For Possible Action)
Description:
Included in each Board Member's agenda packet is a copy of the District's proposed 2022-23 tentative budget. NRS 354.596 requires that all school districts approve and file a balanced tentative budget with the Nevada Department of Taxation by April 15. The statute further requires that the District hold a hearing on their tentative budget not sooner than the third Monday in May and not later than that last day of May.
Included in each Board Member's agenda packet is a summary of the General Fund appropriations as well as the projected budgets for all other funds. The projected budget is balanced. It is expected that any revisions to the April Tentative Budget in terms of projected revenues or expenditures will be made and reviewed at the May 17th public hearing. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the FY 2022-2023 Douglas County School District Tentative Budget and declare a public hearing on the budget for Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at 4:30 p.m. at the DCSD Airport Training Center, 1126 Airport Road Building G-1, Minden NV 89423.

12. Painting Maintenance Project Contract Approval SG-G (Discussion and For Possible Action)
Description:
The Board will consider awarding a bid for services to Fix Painting for the DCSD Painting Maintenance Project, in the amount of $71,000.00.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the Board award the bid for the DCSD Paining Maintenance Project to Fix Painting, in the amount of $71,000.00, as recommended by Director of Facilities, Phil Demus and Project Manager, Scott McCullough. |
13. Carpet Maintenance Project Contract Approval SG-G (Discussion and For Possible Action)
Description:
The Board will consider awarding a bid for services to BT Mancini for the DCSD Carpet Maintenance Project, in the amount of $87,246.00.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the Board award the bid for the DCSD Carpet Maintenance Project to BT Mancini, in the amount of $87,246.00, as recommended by the Director of Facilities, Phil Demus and Project Manager, Scott McCullough.

Description:

15. Nevada School Climate/Social Emotional Learning Survey Results SG-C, AS (For Information and Discussion)
Description:
Executive Director of Educational Services, Rommy Cronin-Mack, and Assistant Director of Educational Services, Shannon Brown, will present the results of the 2021 Nevada School Climate/Social Emotional Learning Survey.

16. Review of Prior Action Related to State Climate Survey SG-G (Information Only)
Description:
As requested by the Board, Superintendent Lewis will review prior board action which was taken on August 10, 2021, related to the Nevada School Climate/Social Emotional Learning Survey.

Description:
The Board will recess to closed session in order to discuss matters with its management representatives pursuant to NRS 288.220(4).

Description:
