7.A. ES Principal - Chris Berogan

• I want to shout out the Bookmobile team. Bookmobile has been running strong this summer. The Bookmobile team sees close to 100 kids over the course of their day out every Wednesday, and every child is happy to take away a new book... or three while talking excitedly with the team about the books they've read this summer. 
• Planners have been purchased for every student in 4th to 6th grade. Grade level teachers in our upper grades are going to be trained on a consistent method of utilizing these planners as a means of strengthening communication around daily assignments and homework. I heard a lot of confusion about assignments from parents last year, and this is a step to address that need.
• Our summer back to school bash is being planned for August 12. We'll be at Memory Park in Davis with teachers, students, and families. We will have hotdogs provided and cooked by Davis bank, snacks and water provided by PTO, a petting zoo provided by FFA, Bookmobile, dirty sodas, and a DJ.
• Finally, I want to shout out Tara and Jennifer (our custodial team). They have been working diligently this summer to make sure that classrooms are cleaned, floors are waxed, classrooms are set up appropriately, and that the building remains beautiful. They have done this while working around the construction schedule and helping out the high school when they can. They've been doing great work.

7.B. HS Principal - John Paddock

• Completing the hiring process and filling remaining staff vacancies.
• Finalizing educator evaluation schedules for the 26-27 SY
• Developing presentations to inform staff, students, and families of important updates and changes for the new school year.
• Coordinating the mandatory fall coaches' meeting and parent/guardian athletic meetings.
• Working through teachers' summer classroom needs lists

7.C. IT - Ross Eberle

• Summer projects are going well. Chromebooks will be set to upgrade over the summer so students may see those roll through at the start of school when they turn them on for the first time.
• The new phone system is delayed slightly, with it now expected July 10. The technology department has been working on clearing out the other summer projects so we can focus on the phone system when it arrives.
•  Electronic recycling is scheduled for August 4. There is a fair amount of extra cabling we have removed since the last round of recycling that we will be glad to see get recycled and the items that we need to surplus, if there are any, will be on the surplus list for approval

7.D. Building and Grounds - Gavin Schuppner

• Last week we had all the air conditioning units serviced and everything was running how it should. We also got the High School gym floors refinished, and the gym is now open for use. We also had the fire alarms tested in each school, everything passed with minimal repairs needed.
• Nelson Storm did an annual inspection on the sprinkler system in each building and passed. One drain pipe was cracked and has been fixed.
• We will use Continental Fire Sprinkler Company for the 5-year inspection as their bid came in about $400 cheaper than Nelson Storm.

7.E. AD - Jallen Bashford

• Fall athletic equipment has been ordered and will be arriving prior to the start of the season.
• Continuing to review and process athlete paperwork as physicals and required forms are submitted.
• Working with Freeport to finalize bus schedules and travel arrangements for all fall athletic events.

7.F. Superintendent - Jenny Keffer

• The district office continues to meet weekly to plan and prepare for the start of school. 
• Construction remains on schedule, with our goal of having major equipment off site by August 6 - the day before the literacy celebration on August 7. 
• We successfully held our first trivia night to support Dakota Athletics. 8 teams participated, with a full patio at Rte. 75. This will hopefully become a long standing tradition.

8.A. Track All-State 
 

Congratulations to the Dakota Boys Track and Field team on an outstanding performance at the IHSA State Track and Field Championships!

We are proud to recognize two relay teams that earned All-State honors by placing sixth in their respective events while also setting new school records.

The 4x200-meter relay team of Bennie Gordon, Brayden Larson, Brodie Goode, and Hunter Koelling finished 6th in the state with a time of 1:30.02, establishing a new Dakota school record.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Brayden Larson, Brodie Goode, Hunter Koelling, and Kaeden Wehlre also earned 6th-place All-State honors, finishing with a time of 3:25.84 and setting another new Dakota school record.

These accomplishments reflect the athletes' dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence throughout the season. We congratulate these student-athletes and extend our appreciation to their coaches, families, and supporters for helping make this memorable season possible.
