Bruce Hentges, Executive Director of the Local Education Activities Foundation (LEAF), will introduce Sara Martini, P.A.K.R.A.T. Coordinator, and Media Specialist at Westwood Elementary School, and Amy Jensen, Teacher at Westwood. They will present an update on the P.A.K.R.A.T. Program in St. Cloud Area School District 742. They will also provide information regarding a recent Otto Bremer Foundation grant.

Description:
Dr. Marsha Baisch, Assistant Superintendent; Joni Olson, Interim Executive Director of Student Achievement/Strategic Alignment; and Andrea Preppernau, Assistant Director of Research, Evaluation, and Assessment, will present a summary of August professional development activities. These activities include Teacher Induction, School Data Retreats and District Staff Development sessions.

Dr. Marsha Baisch, Assistant Superintendent, and Dennis Whipple, Board Vice-Chair, will provide a recap of the Work Session, including key messages and next steps.

Description:
Kevin Januszewski, Executive Director of Business Services, will announce that the Final Levy Certification will take place at the regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting on December 18th at 7:00 p.m. at St. Cloud City Hall located at 400 2nd Street South, St. Cloud, Minnesota. There will be time for public testimony.

III.A. Approval of Plans and Cost Estimates for Clearview, North and Kennedy Building Additions and Apollo Kitchen Remodel (ACTION)

Description:
David Leapaldt with IIW Minnesota will present information on building addition design and cost estimates for the Clearview, North and Kennedy building additions and the Apollo kitchen remodel. Any interested individual may view the proposed building addition or kitchen remodel designs by contacting David Leapaldt with IIW Minnesota at 320-230-0840.
These projects are funded with Lease Levy and Operating Capital funds. The Administration recommends that the Board of Education approve the plans and cost estimates to move forward with these projects. |
III.B. Communications Audit (ACTION)

Description:
Dennis Whipple, Chair of the Community Linkages Committee, will present a proposal from the National School Public Relations Association to conduct a Communications Audit for St. Cloud Area School District 742. This audit will continue the work of the Strategic Plan Strategy Two, Goals One and Three.
The Community Linkages Committee recommends hiring National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) to conduct a communications audit for St. Cloud Area School District 742 for a total amount of $24,000.00, including facilitators, focus groups. and travel. |

Description:
The Administration recommends approval for submission of the following grant applications:

Online application entitled "A Robotics Lab for Talahi" by Talahi Community School to the American Honda Foundation in the amount of $50,000.00 to establish a Robotics Lab at Talahi with Lego robotic packages. 2. Online application entitled "A Native Plant Area for the Reading Garden" by Talahi Community School to Project Learning Tree's Green Works in the amount of $511.50. This project will involve the creation of a native plant area on the areas that border the reading garden project. |
VI.H. Approval of Application for Dissolution of Cooperative Sponsorship
Description:
The Administration recommends approval of an Application for Dissolution of Cooperative Sponsorship to the Minnesota State High School League between St. Cloud Tech, St. Cloud Apollo, and St. Cloud Cathedral for Girls' Hockey for the 2014-2015 school year.

Description:
The Administration recommends approval of a two year extension to the current pupil transportation contracts for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 school years with our current vendors at the negotiated rate of a 1.5% increase each year. The vendors are Guardian Bus Company, Spanier Bus Service, Inc., Trobec's Bus Service, Inc., and Voigt's Bus Service, Inc.

Description:
The Administration recommends approval of hiring Globe Midwest Adjusters International as the District's public insurance adjusters for the Roosevelt fire claim.

VI.K. Call for Bids - Earthwork/Utilities and Concrete Foundations/Footings for Clearview, North and Kennedy Building Additions
Description:
The Administration recommends that the Board of Education authorize a Call for Bids for Earthwork/Utilities and Concrete Foundations/Footings for Clearview, North and Kennedy Building Additions to be opened on October 7, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. Central Time.
These projects are being funded with Capital Lease Levy funds. The Call for Bids will be available at www.isd742.org. |
VI.L. Authorization of Patricia King as Local Education Agency (LEA) Representative
Description:
The Administration recommends that the Board of Education authorize Patricia King to act as the Local Education Agency (LEA) representative for school year 2014-2015 in reviewing and filing Priority, Focus and Continuous Improvement School Plans for submission to the Minnesota Department of Education.
