III.D. Bid Award - Building Addition & Remodeling at South Junior High School (ACTION)
(8:45-8:55)
Description:
The bids for Building Addition & Remodeling at South Junior High School were opened on Thursday, December 13, 2012. Kevin Januszewski, Executive Director of Business Services, will review the bid summation. After reviewing the bids for Contract 8: Architectural Woodwork/Countertops/Solid Surface Window Sills, Contract 11: Firestopping/Sealants, and Contract 17: Wood Athletic Flooring, the recommendation is to reject those bids. Quotes will be obtained and will be awarded at a later date.
Bid award includes Alternate No. G1 which provides the necessary labor and materials to infill the existing swimming pool and create a new gymnasium and strength training room on the main floor and two new classrooms on the second floor. The addition project will be funded with Capital Lease Levy funds. The remodel project will be funded with Capital funds. A summation of the bid awards is attached. A detailed bid tabulation is available in the Business Services Office for review upon request. The Administration recommends awarding the bid for Building Addition and Remodeling at South Junior High School, including Base Bid and Alternate No. G1 in the amount of $1,559,084, based upon low bids received meeting specifications.

III.E. Schedule January Reorganization Meeting (ACTION)

Description:
In accordance with Minnesota Statute, the Board of Education Reorganization Meeting is to be held on the first Monday of January each year, or as soon thereafter as practicable. The recommended date and time for the Board of Education Reorganization Meeting is January 7, 2013, at 5:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the District 742 Administration Offices, 1000 North 44th Avenue, St. Cloud.

VII.I. Appointment of Surrogate Parents for Students with Disabilities
Description:
Minnesota rules require that school districts appoint surrogate parents for students with disabilities under the following conditions:
1. The parent, guardian, or conservator is unknown or unavailable. 2. The pupil is a ward of the commissioner of human services. 3. The parent requests in writing the appointment of a surrogate parent. The Administration recommends that the Board of Education appoint Kyle and Kendra Roehl and Carlita Thompson to act as surrogate parents to represent students with disabilities because legal parents are unavailable. |
