Description:
1. Fall Staff Development was extremely successful throughout the district and within each building. Many staff members commented to me that it was one of the best back to school workshops in which they have participated. Carla Nolan did a great job with help from building principals and other directors to lead staff development for new teachers and all staff during the weeks leading up to the first student days.
2. Within the consent agenda I am recommending changing the October Regular Meeting from October 3 to October 10. 3. Superintendent Goals for 2022-2023 School Year Objective 2.1: During the 2022-23 school year, we will continue utilizing digital tools to support and enhance learning for all students and staff. Goal: By June, 2023, The Superintendent will support embedded professional learning that will support teachers and administrators in implementing instructional technology to engage students in the learning environment. Staff will be provided with at least 2 grade level or department level coaching opportunities. Instructional Technology, Curriculum and Instruction and DLM's will help connect teachers to the resources and data they need to strengthen capacity. Objective 3.2: During the 2022-23 school year, we will continue to utilize an extensive Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) process to address academic and behavior needs through frequent and early intervention. Goal: By June, 2023, the Superintendent will complete an evaluation of the MTSS Framework and processes to identify priorities needed for specific groups of students, including special education. Each school building will focus attention on Tier I early intervention within core instruction. We will utilize research-based interventions to support Tier II and Tier III instruction. Objective 4.1: Annually, provide ongoing feedback to all staff to support professional growth. Goal: By June, 2023, the Superintendent will analyze jobs and provide updated position descriptions to create a job evaluation handbook and create an effective job evaluation system that will allow for greater support and increased professional growth of all staff. This will provide classifications and training to meet requirements of pay equity, as well as, regular job evaluation feedback. The updated job descriptions and evaluations will provide an opportunity for the District to recruit and maintain highly effective staff throughout. Objective 5.1: During the 2022-23 school year, implement and utilize a variety of communication tools to maximize visibility and support of the district's goals, connections, and successes. Goal: By June 2023, the Superintendent will work with stakeholders at all levels, including internal staff and external partners, to build a collaborative culture with a foundation of trust and confidence in Becker Public Schools using a communication plan that has established guidelines. 4. I had the opportunity to be invited and participate in the Becker All School Reunion last week at Pebble Creek Golf Club. It was great to meet and talk with graduates from the 1940's through today. They are a wonderful group that has done great things to lay the groundwork for the success and the opportunities our children have today. 5. Bids have been coming in on the projects at the Middle School, High School, Primary School, Early Education Center, Multi-Purpose Field. Dirt work has been and continues to be completed at the Transportation Facility Site. I did attach a weekly progress update on the work at the transportation site. We will need to schedule a Project Oversight Committee meeting this week or next week. 6. The annual Truth in Taxation meeting will take place during our regular meeting on December 5th, 2022 at 6:30 pm

Description:
The fundraiser applications that were approved and the fundraiser amounts are presented. Policy 511 states that, "The superintendent shall report to the school board, at least annually, on the nature and scope of student fundraising activities approved pursuant to this policy."

3.F. Truth-in-Taxation Hearing: December 5, 2022, 6:30 PM
Description:
Minnesota's Truth in Taxation Law requires school districts to provide a public hearing before adopting a tax levy for the following year. This meeting must take place between November 25th and December 28th of 2022. I recommend holding the annual Truth in Taxation meeting during our regular meeting on December 5th, 2022 at 6:30 pm.

4. GIFTS
Description:
Policy 706 Acceptance of Gifts permits the school board to accept donations or gifts under the terms of the policy. I recommend accepting the gifts as described in the enclosure. Thank you to those who have donated to our schools and students.

Description:
I, along with members of the insurance committee, which met on August 17, recommend approving the insurance increase and rates proposed.

Description:
Updated to align with enactment of new state bill regarding student data privacy: https://www.revisor.mn.gov/laws/2022/0/Session+Law/Chapter/69/
Including: • specific provisions that must appear in contracts between technology providers and schools; • limitations and notice requirements before a school or a technology provider electronically accesses or monitors a school-issued device; and • notice to parents and students "within 30 days of the start of each school year" regarding any curriculum, testing or assessment technology provider contract affecting a student’s educational data.

8. PRELIMINARY LEVY 2022 PAYABLE 2023
Description:
The levy certification documents for Minnesota's public schools have been issued.
The first "levy run" typically contains errors. Kevin Januszewski will work with MDE to correct the calculations over the next few weeks. He will review the preliminary Payable 2022 levy information at the school board meeting. The Pay 23 Preliminary Levy is comparable to the Pay 22 Levy, with the exception of the second referendum question, which will create an increase. I recommend approving the maximum preliminary certification. A presentation covering the 22-23 budget and the Payable 23 Levy will be provided during the December regular board meeting. The final levy amount will be approved by the board at that time.
