Description:
Background: The following have been submitted for approval:
Item 1: January 20, 2020 Regular Board of Education meeting minutes Item 2: Bills submitted for payment Item 3: Pursuant to Board Policy which references Wisconsin Statutes Sections 111, 118, 121, all employees who require Wisconsin state certification shall be recommended by the superintendent to the Board of Education for approval. All recommendations presented at this time are pursuant to approved Board policies and accompanying administrative procedures. Recommended Action: Approve minutes, bills and employment as presented. |

5.B. Approve the first reading of revised policy 458 Wellness
Description:
Background: Policy updates are being made to align the District policy with our current practices that follow federal guidelines.
Recommended Action: Approve the first reading of revised policy 458 Wellness.

5.C. Approve the second reading of revised policy 171.1 Public Notification of Board Meetings
Description:
Background: Updates to the Policy include changing the publication in the local newspaper from the River Falls Journal to the Star Observer and includes a list of the public posting sites to the policy. The first reading was approved at the January 20, 2020 Regular Board meeting.
Recommended Action: Approve the second reading of revised policy 171.1 Public Notification of Board Meetings.

5.D. Consideration and/or Action to approve February 3, 2020 Educational Program Committee recommendations
Description:
Background: The Committee met on February 3, 2020 to recognize February as Career and Technical Education Month; took a STEM Lab and Career and Technical Ed Programs tour at River Falls High School; discuss the use of digital tools and devices; hear an update regarding the upcoming districtwide February In-service; and approve the preliminary field trip application for the High School Marching Band to attend the Bands of America regional performance.
Recommended Action: 1. Approve the preliminary field trip application for the High School Marching Band to attend the Bands of America regional performance in Indianapolis, Indiana, October 23-25, 2020. |

5.F. Consideration and/or Action to approve February 10, 2020 Personnel Committee recommendations
Description:
Background: The Committee met on February 10, 2020 to discuss and approve the 2020-21 certified staffing plan; review and approve the 2020-21/2021-22 school calendars; and discuss health and dental insurance 2020-21 planning.
Recommended Action: 1. Approve the 2020-21 certified staffing plan. 2. Approve amended 2020-21 school calendar, 2020-21 important dates, and 2021-22 school calendar. |

5.G. Consideration and/or Action to approve February 13, 2020 Finance and Facilities Committee recommendations
Description:
Background: The Committee met on February 13, 2020 to approve 2020-21 School Bus purchases; approve Rocky Branch and Meyer Middle School parking lot paving; and approve Rocky Branch interior painting projects.
Recommended Action: 1. Approve the purchase of (3) Thomas Route Buses and (1) Thomas Bus with Wheelchair Lift from Nelson Bus Service with budgeted funds from the 2020-2021 budget. 2. Approve Rocky Branch and Meyer Middle School parking lot paving projects a cost of $172,492 and $170,125, respectively. 3. Approve Rocky Branch interior painting project at a cost of $53,868. |

5.H. Board of Education self-evaluation
Description:
Background: Results of the annual board self-evaluation of the work of the school board are enclosed. Board members are asked to come prepared to discuss responses to the open-ended questions about the effectiveness of the board’s work.
Recommended Action: Discussion only. While no formal action is requested, the board is asked to consider an action plan to increase board effectiveness. |
