5.A. Approval of minutes, bills and recommended employment
Description:
Background: The following have been submitted for approval:
Item 1: October 21, 2019 Regular Board of Education meeting minutes Item 2: October 24, 2019 Special Board of Education meeting minutes Item 3: Bills submitted for payment Item 4: Pursuant to Board Policy which references Wisconsin § 111, 118, 121, all employees who require Wisconsin state certification shall be recommended by the superintendent to the Board of Education for approval. All recommendations presented at this time are pursuant to approved Board policies and accompanying administrative procedures. Recommended Action: Approve minutes, bills and employment as presented. |
5.B. Review and Approve District Safety Plan
Description:
Background: According to Act 143, which became law in March of 2018, the school board must review our district safety plan outlined in our district crisis manual, and review reflections on each school's violent crisis drill prior to January 1 each year.
Recommended action: Approve the District Crisis manual. |
5.C. Approve the second reading of revisions to Policy 343.2 Class Size Guidelines
Description:
Background: The first reading of revisions to Policy 343.2 Class Size Guidelines was approved at the October 21, 2019 Regular Board of Education meeting.
Recommended Action: Approve the second reading of revisions to Policy 343.2 Class Size Guidelines. |
5.D. Approve the first reading of revised policy 184 Board Minutes
Description:
Background: Since the River Falls Journal no longer exists and the Star Observer is not published in River Falls (it is being published in Red Wing, MN), Wisconsin § 120.11(4) states that “the proceedings shall be posted or published as the school board directs.” The revisions to Policy 184 Board Minutes state the minutes will be posted on the School District of River Falls website.
Recommended Action: Approve the first reading of revised policy 184 Board Minutes. |
5.E. Consideration and/or Action to approve November 4, 2019 Personnel Committee recommendations
Description:
Background: The Committee met on November 4, 2019 to approve the Maintenance department job descriptions and updates to the Meyer Middle School Principal and Assistant Principal job descriptions. Lastly they heard an update on the Compensation Analysis Project.
Recommended Action: 1. Approve Maintenance Department Job Descriptions as presented. 2. Approve Meyer Middle School Principal and Meyer Middle School Assistant Principal job description revisions as presented. |
5.F. Consideration and/or Action to approve November 11, 2019 Educational Program Committee recommendations
Description:
Background: The Committee met on November 11, 2019 to approve proposed new courses Career Technical Education (CTE) Capstone, Welding II and CNC Manufacturing; approve course revisions and updates to Basic Engineering Technology to 3D CAD & Design and Computer Programming; approve course revisions, updates, and a title change from Welding in Industry and Agriculture to Welding I; approve course title change from Digital Media to Digital Marketing, Exploring Woods and Plastics to General Woodworking, from Introduction to Engineering Design to Engineering Design and Principles of Engineering Design to Applied Engineering; approve the recommendation to retire Digital Electronics from the approved High School course list; and lastly approve the River Falls High School Credit Reduction Plan as presented.
Recommended Action: 1. Approve proposed new courses Career Technical Education (CTE) Capstone, Welding II and CNC Manufacturing. 2. Approve course revisions and updates to Basic Engineering Technology to 3D CAD & Design and Computer Programming. 3. Approve course revisions, updates, and a title change from Welding in Industry and Agriculture to Welding I. 4. Approve course title change from Digital Media to Digital Marketing, Exploring Woods and Plastics to General Woodworking, from Introduction to Engineering Design to Engineering Design and Principles of Engineering Design to Applied Engineering. 5. Approve the recommendation to retire Digital Electronics from the approved High School course list. 6. Direct administration to present policy revisions for graduation requirement guidelines, (Policy 345.6 and Rule,) with the understanding that administration will provide frequent updates related to study hall options and related staffing proposals. |

Description:
Background: Upcoming Board meeting dates, times and locations will be reviewed.
Recommended Action: Set meeting schedule as follows: Educational Program Committee meeting: Monday, December 2, 2019, 6:00 p.m. Finance and Facilities Committee meeting: Monday, December 9, 6:00 p.m. Personnel Committee meeting: Monday, December 9, 7:00 p.m. Regular Board meeting: Monday, December 16, 2019, 7:00 p.m. All above meetings will be held at the District Office, 852 East Division Street |
