4.A. The February Student Spotlight features the Junior Leaders Club at Briars Glen Elementary. Briar Glen previously had the Inside Out Club for second and third-graders; this year, they added Junior Leaders for Fourth and fifth-grade students. Both clubs help students think about the world outside their school and how they can take action to serve others.

4.B. Congratulations to Glen Crest Middle School physical education teacher Corey Toppel who was named the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce CCSD 89 Educator of the Year! Toppel has taught physical education at Glen Crest since 1990. He is known for his commitment to leading physical education classes where every child can have success. Toppel creates unique opportunities for students: for the golf unit, he brings them to a nearby course. He runs an intramural bowling team, so students can use an alley. Fourteen years ago, he started the "Pumpkin Run", which has raised thousands of dollars for athletic equipment. Toppel has also coached boys volleyball, girls volleyball, track and field, basketball, and intramurals.
