4.B. CCSD 89 would like to honor Westfield student Sasha Bystrukhina and Park View student Shreyansh Vatsa. They both earned rare perfect scores on the WordMasters Challenge. Hundreds of third through eighth grade students participate in the WordMasters Challenge, which emphasizes logic and reading comprehension with analogy problems that are significantly harder than grade level. Sasha was one of just 18 fifth graders in the country to get a perfect score. Shreyansh was one of just 14 fourth graders in the nation to score 20 out of 20. Sasha is fluent in both Russian and English. When she moved to Illinois before preschool, she was in English-language learner classes. This is the fourth time that Shreyansh has earned a perfect score on a WordMasters test. Congratulations, Sasha and Shreyansh!

4.C. Congratulations to 2020 Glen Crest graduate Christian Pogorzelski, who advanced to the state finals of the National Geographic GeoBee. Christian won Glen Crest's geography competition in February and qualified for the state finals in both seventh and eighth grades. That allowed him the opportunity to take a 60-question online test to qualify for the state meet. For the second straight year, Christian was one of the state's top 100 scores, which meant he qualified for the state finals. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, it was an event that would never take place. Christian will be a freshman at Glenbard South this fall. Congratulations Christian!
