8.C. 1st Reading, Board Policy 3430, Investing
Description:
PERTINENT FACTS Board Policy 3430, Investing, provides comprehensive guidelines for the investment of surplus funds. This policy prioritizes the security and safety of District funds while aiming to achieve reasonable returns. It establishes clear parameters for permissible investments, authorizations, insurance, control of funds, and reporting, ensuring prudent management of the District’s financial resources. Multiple Alaskan school districts have adopted policies on investing. The policy that we are proposing today closely mirrors policies adopted by Dillingham, Lower Kuskokwim, and Petersburg School Districts. We are recommending approval of this policy today, which will allow us to implement the sweep account that is explained in the attached memo from the District's Business Manager.
