9.C. 2nd Reading, FY 2024 Budget
Description:
RECOMMENDATION It is the administration’s recommendation that the School Board move the FY 2024 budget to a 3rd reading. PERTINENT FACTS: The administration has been working the different departments in the district on the development of the FY 2024 budget. Tonight, we reviewed the second proposal during the work session before the meeting. Development of the FY 2024 budget will continue and a third proposal will be reviewed during the work session before the May regular board meeting.

10.A. Professional Services Contract #2023-1007 with Alaska Business & Education Services, Inc., for Accounting and Business Services.
Description:
RECOMMENDATION It is the administration’s recommendation that the School Board approve Professional Services Contract #2023-1007 with Alaska Educational and Business Services, Inc., for Accounting and Business Services. PERTINENT FACTS: Alaska Education and Business Services, Inc. (AKEBS), has been providing accounting and business services for the District since 2007. During this time, AKEBS has provided the District with exceptional accounting and business services. This contract is for services provided for FY 2024. |
10.B. 2023-2024 School Calendar
Description:
RECOMMENDATION It is the administration’s recommendation that the School Board postpone consideration of the 2023-2024 school calendar until the May regular meeting. PERTINENT FACTS: Three calendar options were originally presented for the 2023-2024 school year, Option A, Option B, and Option C. Starting in February, stakeholders at each school site were encouraged to attend the school ASC meeting and vote on their preferred calendar. The original vote for the school calendar was tied between calendar options A & B (calendar option C did not receive any votes). This vote used an electoral-type system that allocated 2 points to Thorne Bay ASC vote and 1 point to the ASC vote at each of the other schools. Due to this tie, each ASC was asked to hold a second vote between calendars A & B with the outcome to be determined by the popular vote. The following voting requirements were sent to lead teachers to share with their ASCs:
