VIII.A.1. Presentation of Financial Projection Model Assumptions
Description:
Expected Time to Present: 15 Minutes
At the November Education/Operations Committee Meeting, Bob Tess, Chief Finance and Business Services Officer, shared many of the key variables contributing to the District's multi-year financial projection model. The model represents a baseline using current information, to which adjustments are subsequently made. The projection model uses budget numbers from the 2022-2023 District budget with percentages and/or dollar amounts cast forward, along with adjustments to create this baseline. Once these assumptions are built into the projection model, it will be presented to the Board at a later date.

Description:

At the November Education/Operations Committee meeting, Mr. Tomski and Dr. Rauscher updated the Board on the continued exploration of Weighted Grades and/or a Laude System.

At the November Education/Operations Committee meeting, Administration reviewed an example of a District restructuring plan along with some relevant data regarding this plan. In this presentation, administration will begin to review measurable outcomes and share an analysis of high school restructuring options.

IX.B. Mark Lambert Donation
Description:
Estimated Time to Present: 2 minutes
Recently, Mark Lambert, a former Wausau School District parent, came across sketches and artist proofs from a local artist of some of our schools at an estate sale. Mark purchased the items and gifted them to the Wausau School District. Diana White will briefly address the Board about that donation. |

Description:

As referendum funded improvement plans develop for each facility, the Board will see updates when the designs reach 50% completion. Current plans for John Muir Middle School will be shared with the Board. |

IX.F.1. New Course Requests for the 2023-24 School Year (Action Requested)
Description:

At the November Education/Operations Committee meeting, Dr. Rauscher presented new course requests in high school Mathematics, Technology & Engineering, and Music for recommendation to the full Board. She will also update the Board on a previously approved Art course at Wausau East High School.

IX.F.3. 4K Program Agreement (Action Requested)
Description:

The Wausau School District four-year-old kindergarten program has entered into Program Agreements with community collaboration sites since 2002. In the past five years, the WSD have had agreements with the following sites: Wausau Child Care At the November Education/Operations Committee Meeting, Kara Rakowski, 4K Principal and Early Childhood Coordinator, and Julie Schell, Director of Elementary Education, reviewed the Program Agreement for the 2023-2024 school year.

IX.F.4. School Safety Drill Update and District Safety Plan Approval (Action Requested)

At the November Education/Operations Committee meeting, Cale Bushman, Director of Pupil Services shared the School Safety Drill evaluations and will present the District-Wide Safety Plan for 2022-2023. |
IX.F.5. 2023-24 Calendar Exploration (Action Requested)
Description:
Estimated Time to Present: 10 Minutes
Work continues on the 2023-2024 Wausau School District calendar. On Monday, Diana White will share with the Board the results of a staff survey taking a look at adding in more and consistent professional development and independent learning days. In addition, a question has come up about whether or not the District should apply for a waiver from the Department of Public Instruction to begin school before September 1, 2023 for referendum construction purposes. Administration will ask the Board whether or not they would like the District to explore getting a waiver.
