X.A.1. Substitute Pay Rates (Action Requested)
Description:
With our unique start to the school year, we are finding that all of the area districts are doing creative things to continue to keep substitutes on our list and active in our individual school districts. Some of the districts have gone so far as to require substitutes to commit to a minimum number of days per week or to completely commit to subbing only in their district.
In an effort to remain competitive and attractive for the substitutes that we hire and often share with neighboring school districts, we would like to temporarily approve paying our substitutes at the long term sub rates for each day that they come into our buildings and substitute during the pandemic. Due to our ability to be creative with our staffing and the natural reduction in use of substitutes to provide professional development opportunities for our staff, the overall demand in our system is down. We believe that the combination of the reduced demand and the need to be competitive warrant this temporary adjustment. |
