V. CALL TO PUBLIC
|
V.A. Pursuant to Federal Public Law 103-382, Title 8 (Impact Aid), and the District's Indian Education Policy (IGAK), this call is for any member of our district. The public is cautioned about making statements against employees of the District that may be considered slanderous. A further reminder, the minutes of this meeting are public record and may be used in other proceedings. This is the time that the public may speak to the Governing Board on any issue including agenda items. Action taken as a result of public comment will be limited to directing staff to study the matter, or to reschedule the matter for further consideration and a decision at a later date if it is not already on the agenda. Comments under Call to Public will be limited to four minutes.
Those wishing to address the board are requested to submit their comments by one of the following methods by 10 am Tuesday October 8, 2024: email public comments to boerequests@holbrook.k12.az.us, fax to 928-524-3073 or mail by USPS to PO Box 640 Holbrook, AZ 86025. IX.A. Annual Financial Report - Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The FY24 Annual Financial Report (AFR) is ready for review and approval including the Food Service Annual Financial Report and Classroom Site Fund Narrative. Per state statute (ARS 15-904), the Annual Financial Report shall be prepared for Governing Board review and submitted to the Arizona Department of Education by October 15th. The AFR contains budgeted and actual expenditures for the preceding fiscal year. Additionally, Holbrook Unified School District will provide a link to the ADE website from the District budget website page where this information can be obtained. |
IX.B. Emergency Vehicle Repair Purchase- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Holbrook School District is requesting Governing Board approval of an emergency purchase for vehicle repairs/new engine from Wilkinson's Auto and Tire to replace the engine in the 2015 Chevy Suburban. The emergency purchase exceeds $10,000, requiring three quotes. Wilkinson's discovered the need for a new engine after disassembling the engine for repairs.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve Wilkinson's Auto and Tire as an emergency purchase for a new vehicle engine that will exceed the $10,000 bid limit as presented. |

Description:
The Arizona School Board Association has recommended policy updates for the following policies: BAA Evaluation of the School Board/Board Self-Evaluation, DJE/DJE-R Bidding/Purchasing Procedures, GCFC/GCFC-E Professional Staff Certification and Credentialing Requirements, GDFA/GDFA-E Support staff Qualifications and Requirements, IGA Curriculum Development, IMG/IMG-R Animals in Schools, and JLCD-R Medicines/Administering Medicines to Students for first reading as presented.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve the policies above for first reading as presented. |
IX.D. ASBA Bylaw Approval- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Arizona School Board Association is requesting that each membership district of ASBA approve the updated ASBA Bylaws as presented.

IX.E. Approval of Second Signature Authority Designation - Mrs. Maestas
Description:
The Holbrook School District is requesting Governing Board approval of a second signature authority designation for business operations in the absence of the business manager to authorize official fiscal transactions. The District is recommending Anne Lang, HR Director, and Sally O'Dell, Purchaser/Bookkeeper, to be designated as the second signature designer as presented.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve Anne Lange and Sally O'Dell as the second signatory designer to be an authorized signer in the absence of the business manager. |
IX.F. Sole Source Vendor List Update- Mrs. Maestas
Description:
The Holbrook School District is requesting Governing Board approval of an updated sole source list for vendors that are sole providers of the products they sell. West Ed and The Family Literacy Company have been added to the list. The list is included in the back-up materials.

IX.G. Magic Tree House Book Grant Sixty Day Curriculum Review- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
Indian Wells Elementary School is requesting a 60-day review of the Magic Tree House book list to be utilized at Indian Wells Elementary School for academic purposes. The list of books and curriculum proposal is included in the back up materials. The curriculum proposal will be listed on the HUSD #3 website under 60-day review.

IX.H. Sing Down The Moon 60-Day Book Review- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
Indian Wells Elementary School is requesting a 60-day review of the book Sing Down the Moon by Scott O'Dell as a 4th grade supplemental book for the Wit and Wisdom reading program. The curriculum proposal is included in the back-up materials and will be posted on the HUSD #3 website under a 60-day review.

Description:
Ms. Kasey Dill has requested to complete student teaching at Hulet Elementary School under the guidance of Jessica Paz in 4th grade from January 6 through April 27, 2025. Ms. Dill has a current IVP fingerprint card.
