V. CALL TO PUBLIC
|
V.A. Pursuant to Federal Public Law 103-382, Title 8 (Impact Aid), and the District's Indian Education Policy (IGAK), this call is for any member of our district. The public is cautioned about making statements against employees of the District that may be considered slanderous. A further reminder, the minutes of this meeting are public record and may be used in other proceedings. This is the time that the public may speak to the Governing Board on any issue including agenda items. Action taken as a result of public comment will be limited to directing staff to study the matter, or to reschedule the matter for further consideration and a decision at a later date if it is not already on the agenda. Comments under Call to Public will be limited to four minutes.

Description:
Hulet Elementary School is requesting Governing Board approval of the Splash Publications Social Studies supplemental curriculum. It has undergone a 60-day review and is ready for final adoption.

IX.A. Public Comment On Maintenance and Operations Override- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
A.R.S. 15-481 requires that each school district that currently increases its budget through a Maintenance and Operations (M & O) Override hold a public meeting each year to provide an update of the programs or capital improvements financed through the override. We would like to provide time to discuss our district’s use of our 10% M & O Override and take public comments as applicable.
Recommendation: Presentation on use of the Holbrook Unified School District Maintenance and Operations Override; as well as, accept public comment concerning override funding. |
IX.B. Holbrook School District Prop 301 Performance Pay Plan- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Holbrook USD #3 Prop 301 committee is requesting Governing Board approval of the SY 23-24 Prop 301 Plan. The Prop 301 performance pay plan has been approved by over 70% of the eligible participants.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve the Prop 301 Performance Pay Plan as presented. |
IX.C. Class Size Differential Stipend Administrative Procedure Approval For FY 24- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Holbrook School District is recommending Governing Board approval for the continuation of the Class Size Differential Stipend for SY 23-24. The Class Size Differential Stipend is recommended to continue as presented in the back-up materials.

IX.G. FY24 Classified Salary Placement Schedule- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
HUSD #3 is requesting Governing Board approval of the FY24 Classified Staff Salary Placement Schedule to include the Whitefleet Bus Driver position to be placed on Level 4 as presented.

IX.H. Authorized Checking Account Signers & Student Activities Treasurers - Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Governing Board is required to designate school officials who may sign checks from the various checking accounts used by our District. As a requirement for our annual audit we must also designate a student activity treasure and extra-curricular treasure for each account.
Recommendation: Approve the list of authorized check signers and student activities treasurers as presented. |
IX.I. Policy GDBA Support Staff Salary First Reading- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Holbrook School District is requesting a policy revision to Policy GDBA Support Staff Salary. The policy revision outlines that wage advancements for continuing employees are granted only at the beginning of the fiscal year beyond minimum wage advancements and that an employee must work one day more than one-half the year to receive an advancement in wages. The policy revisions are included in the back-up materials.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve the first reading of Policy GDBA Support Staff Salary as presented. |
IX.J. Policy IGA Curriculum Development,, IJJ Textbook/Supplementary Materials Selection And Adoption, and IGD Curriculum Adoption First Reading- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Arizona School Board Association has updated Policy IGD, IJJ and IGA pertaining to curriculum and textbook adoptions. The revision includes any authorized textbook or curriculum meeting must meet the open meeting law requirements as per ARS 15-721 (F) or 15-722 (B). The policy revisions are included in the back-up materials.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve Policies IGD, IJJ and IGA pertaining to curriculum and textbook adoptions for first reading as presented. |
IX.K. Graduate Internship Placement Request- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
Arizona State graduate student, Marlinda Yazzie, is requesting a fall internship placement at Indian Wells Elementary School for a Pre-K placement to complete 45 hours of practicum work. Ms. Yazzie has been interviewed and has fingerprint clearance.

IX.L. Elementary Education Practicum Placement- Dr. Fosburgh
Description:
Mr. Dylan Barela is requesting a practicum placement from September 5, 2023 through December 1, 2023 to complete his degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University. Mr. Barela has a fingerprint clearance card and will be working under the direction of Ms. Jessica Paz in 4th grade.

IX.M. American Indian Science And Engineering Society Conference Out Of State Travel- Mr. Hargrave
Description:
The Holbrook Holbrook Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) Club is requesting out of state travel to attend the AISES National Conference from October 19th-21st as presented. The cost of attendance and travel will be funded through the Johnson O'Malley program.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve the HHS AISES Chapter to attend the AISES National Conference from October 19-21, 2023 as presented. |

Description:
