6.1. Bond Refinance
Rationale:
Mr. Cody Wickham with D.A. Davidson reached out to Mr. Shearer on August 4th and shared that there could be another opportunity to refinance the remaining Bond Fund Bond Debt that has not yet reached their 5th anniversary date of issue by advance refunding those bonds with Taxable bonds. These are unusual times in the market as the taxable rates have compressed down right on top of the tax-exempt rates. Mr. Wickham shared with Mr. Shearer a forecast as of August 10th that shows the District could save $1,833,516 throughout the remainder of life of the existing bonds. This NET savings amount is subject to changes within the market and is not finalized until the District is able to lock in rates once a refund resolution is adopted by the Board of Education. Board to consider a Resolution to authorize the early redemption of the District’s General Obligation Bonds, Series 2016 and Series 2017, and to authorize the issuance of not to exceed $17,000,000 of General Obligation Taxable Bonds, Series 2020, in order to achieve interest cost savings.
