4. PROPOSED FLEXIBLE LEARNING YEAR PUBLIC HEARING:

Description:
Open to public opinion on the Flexible Learning Year Application. The Minnewaska Area School District is applying to have school start before Labor Day for the 2023-2024 school year. The administration has begun the process of completing the Flexible Learning Year application for the 2023-2024 school year. The tentative date for starting school next year is August 28, 2023. The tentative calendar for the next year is attached. Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, section 124D.124, before implementing a flexible learning year program, the board must: 1. Discuss and negotiate with the various union groups of the district. 2. Schedule at least three public hearings to receive input from the following stakeholders: --teachers and employees, --parents of pupils affected, and --community members. The place and times of these meetings and the proposed dates of these meetings are: February 1, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. in the MAHS Media Center February 27, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. in the MAS District Office Board Room March 27, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. in Minnewaska Area Elementary School Media Center
