Executive Director reviewed the Governor article and NCSA update. He also reviewed the Bromm & Associates, governance relations update. They will be present at the February Board meeting to give further updates.

3.4.1. Senator Sullivan's Learning Community Legislation

Executive Director reviewed the attachments concerning concept papers (common levy, borders are some of the common themes). Continue dialog around concept paper and work together on revisions. Senator Sullivan has not dropped any bills yet but she usually drops them on the last day. LB903 (Senator Baker) continues discussions on Learning Communities.

3.4.2. Senator Campbell - Mental Health

The Special Populations committee discussed the need for mental health discussion. Coordinate efforts to facilitate mental health issues across the state. Lack of providers across the state is an issue. Do a needs assessment of resources across the state.

3.6. Legislative Planning with Stakeholders (ESU 1/8)

Executive Director discussed ESU's 1 and 8 collectively organized a Legislative Planning Session with their Superintendent's early December. The process was facilitated by Rhonda Jindra, ESU 1 Staff Development, which provided opportunity for the ESU Administrators and Superintendent's to discuss and plan for the next legislative session. This may be a process of interest for other ESU's.
