LB147 - Restraint Bill hearing, motion to kill was put on the floor when it opened. Omaha Senators filibustered the bill. Speaker will not reschedule unless Sen. Groene has at least 33 votes. Surprised at the amount of opposition. Seven or eight amendments were filed. Feel this has set the tone for the rest of the session. Sen. Walz said we need to keep reminding them that the ESUs are the trainers. Sen. Muhrman bill - more to do with the training and the source of the money. Lottery bill - perhaps the source of the funding. LB 920 - Lottery hearing is next Tuesday at 1:30 PM. We will have testimony and need to tell how the distribution will affect us. We have a copy of the report from NDE that went to the Senators. The Distance Learning dollars stayed the same. Dr. John Skretta will be testifying. Paul Calvert and/or Scott Jones to also testify. Bill review on January 28 via Zoom at 10:00-noon. LB 206 - School Censorship/ Senator Morfield includes K-12 and postsecondary. Freedom of Speech bill. Finance bill /Senator Linehan. Senator Bolz to go against Linehan's bill. Invite NCSA to join the Senator luncheons including the NCSA Ambassadors. LB 759 - Brad Best - better communiation with DDHS. This is Senator Koltermans bill. Each ESU tobring Deb 50 copies of ESU Report to the February Board meeting to be added to the file folders.
