Discussion:  Shirley Vargas and Lane Carr were present to share these topics:

1. Comprehensive Needs Assessment Interest - Reiterate points in Shirley’s 8.23.21 email, and answer any questions.
   1. CNA 2.0 Piolot Study has two main components: 
      1. To gather feedback and reactions to the tool itself and the platform that is being used. This component will run from mid-September through the end of the year. 
      2. Secondly, we will focus on how the NDA is used in a continuous improvement process. The pilot study will begin approximately January/February.  
      3. CSI, TSI and ATSI schools will be asked to do the pilot study
2. Hanover Digital Library Access - Shirley and Lane shared an opportunity to access a resource library.
   1. NDE would pay for the library access for one year - 20 people per ESU would have access to download the resources.  
3. TNTP Opportunity Scorecard Outreach - Shirley described the scorecard and enlisted ESU support to recruit schools.
   1. This is a study informed by the TNTP's, "The Opportunity Myth".  There would be several surveys ( parent, child, etc.) and some student work to create reports.  
   2. Opportunity for schools to engage in and they will notify the ESUs of their schools that are engaged in this opportunity.  
4. ESSER Roadmap - Lane highlighted the resources contained on the ESSER webpage for NDE.
   1. The required portions are consultation, theory of action and a plan for use of funds

Discussion:  Amy Rhone was present to share updates from Special Education at NDE.  They have begun the Journey to Inclusion, which is ESSERS funded.  They have added 5 regional educators to the NeMTSS team.  SEBL Specialist - currently have three across the state.  IDEA-ARP discussion around the additional support from ARP. Disproportionality letters have been sent out.  These letters do not come to ESUs unless school districts have given permission.   

Discussion:  Guidance documents are out to help with policy and procedures.  NDE released 6 new guidance documents yesterday.  

Discussion:  The chair shared information on the NDE Mental Health Grant.  

Discussion:  The committee continues to meet to plan.  

Discussion:  Minh Vu was present to give an SRS update.  The IEP Transition Plan is in place.  They are working on the certification process for SRS reporting coming soon.  

Discussion:  Technology Director gave an update on Project Para.  The training has been converted to a CANVAS course.  They are currently working on a registration process for this.  Soft launch will happen in mid-November.  The palm for everything to go live for the next school year.  

Discussion:  Cory Epler was present to share an update on HQIM.  They are working on resources to support the ELA standards rollout.  The ELE Standards will be voted on by NDE at tomorrow's board meeting. Tools, resources, and professional learning templates.  On November 3, Cory will be working with the SDA Affiliate.  Statewide ESSER III Priorities are as follows:  mental health support, family and community engagement, educator and leader support, systems investments, learning acceleration.  He also shared information on the Learning Acceleration in K-8 Mathematics.  NDE is working on creating Instruction Partners. Zearn Math Summer Intensive - 110 districts opted in.  Schools will have access to this for the next school year.  NDE will continue to use Ed Reports to approve quality instructional materials.  

Discussion:  Ebony McKiver and Craig Hicks were present to share an update on the TLT Special Project with Social Studies.  This work includes the TLT Affiliate and the Social Studies Cadre.  There were several people that attended an Inquiry Design workshop this past summer to help begin their work.  Craig Hicks shared details of the next TLT/SDA Special Project for this year.

Discussion:  The Committee Chair shared info on the Educator Shortage Summit.
