Jason Bromm and Joselyn Luetke were present to give updates. Senator Thibodeau was sworn in today. Senator Hilkeman won the Chair of Committees position. Committee Hearing will begin on January 16. This is a short session. 118 bills were introduced today. Over/Under bills are 400 with the carryover of bills from prior year. The Senate will convene at 10:00 until January 17, they will begin at 9:00 after that date. State of the State by Gov. Ricketts will be on January 10 at 10:00 AM, General file will begin in the afternoon. Speaker priorities is February 14. Hearing of Senator Lowe may be introducing a bill on retirement. Groene introduced a bill on the Learning Community (LB 779 and 778). Governor has asked for a 1% cut across the board. Behavioral Health conversations will be common this session. February 23 will be the ESU Legislative Day. |

Senator Walz continues to work on a bill for Mental Health. This will look to provide a social worker for each ESU and a coordinator at ESUCC level, this would be a private funding source. |

Executive Director had a meeting with Senator Groene. Main goal was to communicate how we communicate with our schools. He wants to know how we promote efficiencies. Executive Director will meet with his aide once a month to answer questions. Executive Director will work on getting a meeting set up with the other members of the Education Committee. |
