October 3, 2017 at 4:00 PM - Legislative Committee Meeting

Call the meeting to order at 4:04PM.  

Joselyn Luedtke was present to give a legislative update.  Keep the communication process going with your local senators.  LR130 - several people testified on how we utilize substitutes.  The Legislative Aides are beginning to speak out for us.  Try to schedule a meeting with Senator Groene for ESU administrators to speak with him and discuss what we are doing.  Property tax will be the biggest topic of discussion this legislative session.  Drones will continue to be discussed.  

Last year during the January meeting several administrators stayed and then met with Senators.  Do we want to spend the extra day to communicate with the senators?  

Discussion regarding the meetings last week in Washington DV with the National leaders.  Nebraska breakfast was well attended.  Shared talking points regarding to changes in E-Rate, Medicaid, voucher, state tax credit.  Also reviewed a power point presentation of the education future.  This power point has several good talking points to be used for other conversations.
