4. Review minutes of the December 9, 2024 Committee on American Civics

5. Review Social Studies Curriculum

1. aligned with NDE Standards
2. Stresses required patriotic themes
3. Confirm KP social studies curriculum includes requirements in accordance with state law
   1. complete written test
   2. attend public meeting
   3. present or write a paper on an appropriate topic
4. Available to the public

6. Includes components:

1. one hour per week of instruction for grades below six
2. a set amount of time to teach American history in grades 5-8
3. and at least two courses in high school that teach American civics

7. Appropriate exercises for the following days:

1. George Washington's birthday
2. Abraham Lincoln's birthday
3. Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday
4. Native American Heritage Day
5. Constitution Day
6. Memorial Day
7. Veteran's Day
8. Thanksgiving Day

8. Receive Public Comment related to Social Studies and American Civics

9. Adjourn
