Description:
Racial equity is a stated value in the Intermediate District 287 Strategic Plan. Since 2015, the Strategy Two Implementation Team has focused on removing systemic inequities, increasing opportunities, and implementing culturally responsive practices to eliminate achievement disparities.
Part of this work is creating a culture where staff and students feel safe, welcome and respected. We advance this culture by exploring ourselves as racial beings and staying engaged in conversations about race and equity. Students and staff participate in circles to listen and learn from multiple racial perspectives. Current events as well as the current racial climate across the nation and in Minnesota, significantly impact staff and students of color in particular, which is why we prioritize creating this safe and welcoming culture. |
