5.1. TIES Award Winners
Description:
Shiow-Jen Sun, World Language Program Instructor, and Kayleen Taffe, Hosterman Education Center Instructor, were recognized as TIES Exceptional Teachers at the TIES 2009 Education Technology conference at the Minneapolis Hyatt Regency on December 15. They were among 65 teachers from 33 districts.

5.2. Mary Peters Named District 287 Teacher of the Year
Description:
Mary Peters from the North Vista Education Center has been selected as the Intermediate District 287 Teacher of the Year. As the district representative, Peters is part of a group of accomplished teachers across the state who will be considered for the 2010 Minnesota Teacher of the Year honor.

6.1. Decision Resource Report
Description:
Bill Morris of Decision Resources will present results from the study they recently completed to measure satisfaction after Year One of implementation of the Strategic Plan. Data were gathered from 287 and member district Board members as well as member district superintendents, special education directors, and directors of teaching and learning. A written report will be presented to the Board.

Description:
District 287 played a planning role in the recent AMSD conference on online learning. The video produced by 287 was featured at the conference. It will also be on the Northern Star Online website. |

8.1.2. Approval of Board Acceptance of the following Grants (Action)
Description:
Recommend approval of a Child Care Center & School-Age Care Grant Agreement between Resources for Child Caring, Child Care Resource & Referral Agency (CCR & R) and District 287 SEC Early Learning Center. District 287- SEC Early Learning Center staff has been awarded $2,705.00 so they may attend the Minnesota Pregnancy Prevention and Parenting (MOAPPP) and Communities Collaborative Brain Development Conferences. This agreement shall be in force and effective from November 17, 2009 – April 30, 2010.

8.1.3. Approval of Board Acceptance of the following Grants (Action)
Description:
District 287 has been awarded an additional $40,000.00 Grant from the Minnesota Department of Education – Title II, Part B of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. The Academic Services Division has been awarded an 18-month Enhancing Education through Technology Grant in the amount of $295,654 from 12/16/09 – 6/30/11. The Grants and Research Office (GRO) has been awarded a Building Capacity grant in the amount of $24,947 for creating work experiences and competitive employment opportunities for high school students with disabilities.
