Description:
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Rick Sansted will share with the board the "206 Points of Pride." The persons being recognized this month are: The Discovery Math League Team placed 5th in the state and 1st and 4th in the west central division at the State Jr. High Math League Competition. Individually, Alex Rodriguez took 1st, Thomas Dutcher placed 6th and Joshua Makalinao came in 18th. The team of Alex Rodriguez, Elizabeth Wagner, Joshua Makalinao and Lucas Klimek placed 1st in the regional Mathcounts competition and advanced to state, where they placed 13th out of 25 teams. In the individual Mathcounts competition, Alex Rodriguez and Thomas Dutcher each placed 2nd at regionals and Alex Rodriguez placed 4th in the countdown round at state. Michael Zhang placed 1st in both the Individual Round and the Fact Drill Round at the 6th grade Math Masters competition, while the team of Beck Oldenkamp, Michael Zhang, Collin Aber, Brinkley Schmid and Jada McAdoo placed 1st in the Team Round. In the 8th annual Fluid Power Action Challenge at ATCC, two of the three Alexandria 8th grade teams placed:
9th grader Ning Zhang has been selected as an Aspirations in Computing Award Honoree in the Rising Star award category. This award is given to high school students who identify as women, genderqueer or non-binary and have been selected for their exceptional technology skills, interests and aspirations. The following Alexandria Area High School choir students received Superior ratings at the Section 8AA North Vocal Solo/Ensemble competition held in February:
The Tenor/Bass Choir and the Treble Choir each received an Excellent Performance award at the 8AA North Choral Large Group Competition. |
