Description:
The Texas Public Information Act (TPIA/Government Code §552.0031) permits a school district's Board of Trustees to designate up to ten (10) additional days per calendar year as "non-business days" for the purpose of calculating the statutory deadlines for responding to public information requests. These days are typically used to align with the District's academic calendar (e.g., Spring Break, extended Winter Break) when administrative offices are closed or operating with minimum staffing. Delegating the authority to the Superintendent (or designee) allows for administrative efficiency in finalizing the calendar of designated days.
