10. Resolution to employ or accept as a volunteer a Chaplain

Description:
Section 3 of SB 763 reads: "each board of trustees...shall take a record vote...on whether to adopt a policy authorizing a campus of the district or school to employ or accept as a volunteer a chaplain under Chapter 23, Education Code." The question before school districts under the plain language of SB 763 is "whether to adopt a policy...under Chapter 23, Education Code." This vote must occur before March 1, 2024. There is no requirement to adopt a policy.

11. Purchases over $50,000
Description:
The Board delegates to the Superintendent the authority to make budgeted purchases for goods or services. However, any single, budgeted purchase of goods or services that costs $50,000 or more, regardless of whether the goods or services are competitively purchased, shall require Board approval before a transaction may take place.

Description:
Pursuant to Texas Government Code Sections 551.071, to consult with District's attorney, in person or by phone, on a matter in which the duty of the attorney to the District under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas clearly conflicts with Chapter 551 of the Texas Local Government Code.
Pursuant to Texas Government Code Sections 551.074 for the purpose of considering the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline, or dismissal of a public officer, employee, or to hear complaints or charges against a public officer or employee. |
