Description:  Policy BED local states that audience participation at a Board meeting is limited to the public comment portion of the meeting designated for that purpose.  At all other times during a Board meeting, the audience shall not enter into discussion or debate on matters being considered by the Board, unless requested by the presiding officer.  An open forum will be conducted at each regular monthly meeting. At special meetings such as this one, public comment is limited to items on the agenda posted with notice of the meeting. 

Description:  Background: Comal ISD School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is presenting to the Board of Trustees an annual report detailing 2024-2025 SHAC goals, progress, and achievements in the areas of fitness and physical activity, school gardens and nutrition, mental health and safe schools, and district wellness (Comal Fit). SHAC goals for 2025-2026 will also be shared. 

Description:  Background: Administration is providing an update on GT and AA services.  Under Section 29.123 of the Texas Education Code (TEC), the Texas State Plan guides services for gifted/talented students. Districts must adhere to these standards, which are aligned with state law and SBOE rules. The effectiveness of these services, as per the state plan (6.8), is assessed annually, with results shared with the board of trustees and parents. Data from evaluations informs updates to district and campus improvement plans (TEC §§11.251-11.253).  

Description:  The Teaching & Learning department will provide an update on the district’s professional learning opportunities, as well as preview key initiatives for 2025-2026. The presentation will highlight how Comal ISD is supporting staff growth, instructional alignment, and educator retention through a comprehensive professional learning ecosystem.

Description:  Background: This annual update provides an overview of key accomplishments, ongoing initiatives, and areas of focus for the 2024-2025 school year. The presentation highlights efforts in preventive maintenance, work order management, custodial services, and operational improvements that align with district growth and facility needs.
