Start of the year has been going well, students seem to be enjoying it. It's always cool to hear new staff say how good the students in Hill City are.


Been a busy month, new principal is hitting the ground running, new staff has some great things going on, been a good start.

One common issue right now is the Earned Sick and Safe Time leave, especially as it applies to irregular staff, like substitutes, coaches, event workers, board members, etc. The state hasn't determined how it works to have ESST for these, as if a substitute is sick, they don't come to work, same with coaches. We have to track this and will be a challenge when this starts in January.

School Resource Officers and holds have been a big conversation too. We don't have an SRO, our relationship with Hill City PD is in a non-disciplinary way, they would not do anything in this sense unless absolutely necessary.

10.a. Approve hiring Heidi Haddix as the .5 FTE Music/Choir/Band teacher starting the 2023-2024 school year as per the HCUE contract.

10.b. Approve the purchase of services agreements with Northland Community Schools and Floodwood Schools for Early Childhood Coordinator services.

10.c. Approve the 2023-2024 Preliminary Seniority Lists

10.d. Approve fitness center household pass at the rate of $120 per year.

10.e. Superintendent Johnson recommends the Board set the Proposed Levy Limitation and Certification 2023 Payable 2024 at the maximum.

10.f. Set date and time for Truth in Taxation Meeting for December 18th at 6:30 p.m. at the Hill City School Community Room, Room 230.

This is a public announcement that the Truth in Taxation Meeting will be held on December 18th at 6:30 p.m. at the Hill City School Community Room, Room 230, at which time the budget and levy will be discussed and the public will be allowed to speak.
