The Board has a substantial public interest in protecting the health and safety of its students, staff, and community, and therefore desires to ensure that the school district is utilizing all measures available to protect the health and safety of students, staff, and community, considering the immediate impact the loss of life at Roy J. Smith Middle School on March 10, 2025, is having on the Killeen ISD community and schools. Therefore, an urgent public necessity exists to provide the community with information regarding the incident at Roy J. Smith Middle School on March 10, 2025, the safety and security measures which are being used to protect the health and safety of students, staff, and community, and the plans for the Roy J. Smith Middle School campus for the week ahead.
